This is a full-time, on-site role in the Purchasing Department, located in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area. The role includes performing day-to-day purchasing and sourcing operations, providing excellent communication skills, timely scheduling and responsiveness and building on positive professional relationships.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

Evaluate suppliers, considering price, quality, availability and other criteria.

Utilize existing tools to monitor inventory levels and place orders in a timely manner

Coordinate with the purchasing, sales, and operations teams, and contribute to sales and purchasing strategies.

Communicate with vendors and suppliers and research products to learn about raw materials, finished goods, and services, and negotiate pricing and payment terms to obtain the best deals on behalf of the company.

Verify purchases, receipts, and invoices to ensure all requested information has been delivered, is correct, and submit for payment processing.

Recommend alternatives for irrelevant or obsolete products, including MRO materials.

Interact with suppliers regarding delivery times, shipping errors, and quality issues.

Practice good record-keeping and digital stewardship of all relevant documents and communications.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

All team members may be cross trained to support other teams.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Strong Communication and interpersonal skills to effectively handle client and supplier relationships and address inquiries with professionalism.

Experience and proficiency in Purchasing, including the ability to implement, and execute purchasing initiatives as well as understanding the manufacturing and operations processes as they relate to lead times and material supply.

Confidence in negotiating skills and consistent, professional telephone skills are a must.

Proven skills in working well with team members across multiple company areas to enhance performance and ensure strong alignment with business objectives.

Attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Proficient in relevant software systems and tools, including ERPs and CRMs, with experience in inventory and/or purchasing processes being a plus.

Previous experience in the industrial supply, plumbing, or PVF industry is a plus but not required.
